For the past 20 years of my career, I have been a staunch advocate for health care that ensures we have safe, happy and healthy families.
For such a long time there has been this unspoken and unnecessary"divide" between different health care professionals involved in family care. I am pleased that this doctor has spoken publicly about the collaborative care that families deserve and need, no matter what their health status is (i.e. "high or low risk"). To find out more, have a look at the link below!
It has been well documented throughout my career, that midwives & nurses provide safe and cost-effective health care either independently or in collaboration with other health care professionals such as obstetricians. It has been proven time and time again, that we significantly reduce the rates of health risks to mothers and babies no matter the outcome.
Today, more and more of us are aware and concerned about our health and wanting access to safe, cost effective health care with a happy and healthy outcome. We are more focused on exercising, eating healthy, leading by example for our future generations - which is absolutely great....BUT - we can't forget that the way to optimal health starts from the beginning with the choices that we make today!
In promoting healthy pregnancy, birth and parenting, we can help families begin to have a healthy and happy life. This begins with learning about what your options are and why they are so important. I believe it begins with education, because knowledge gives you the power to make choices that are best for you and your family.
