My baby's feeds are all over the place, how do I schedule an appointment?
We expect healthy babies to feed to their own schedule & there is no way we expect them to fit into ours. If you need to feed your baby prior to our appointment, try a partial feed if possible.
If you need to do a full feed, thats ok too! Please be mindful that we deal with this every day! Our appointments usually go for 1-2 hours depending on the type of appointment.
We don't like babies or mums being distressed, so we work around you as much as we can.
Our appointments involve a lot of history taking & assessments that need to be done. Most babies tend to have feeds at some time during the appointment anyway.
After 12 years, we have only had one baby leave a consultation without feeding!
I'm really nervous and need a family member or friend with me, can they come to our appointment too?
Of course they can! Provided that they are low risk for the COVID-19 Virus or any other infections that are contagious, such as Rubella, Chickenpox, Shingles, Common Cold & Conjunctivitis.
Please be reassured that our community's health is really important to us. We actively screen all of our clients prior to each appointment & we clean all of our after each appointment.
Please be mindful that our clinic rooms are small, so we can safely fit yourself, one support person & your baby or babies (if twins).
Can I bring my other children to our appointment?
It largely depends on the age of your children. As a guide, children aged 6 & under are best left with a carer.
Please don't hesitate to call us to discuss this further - we never take a one size fits all approach here!
What information will I be sent prior to the appointment?
When you book an appointment with us, you will receive a confirmation email.
2 days prior to your appointment, you will also receive a reminder email.
These emails detail our clinic policies regarding COVID-19; fees, payment options, how & when you can contact me between appointments as well as who to contact for after hours support. This is part of our informed consent process - we don't like hiding anything from you & will be involving you in all we do!
We also have 3 online forms for you to complete: 1. Intake and Consent Form - we need some basic information about you as well as legal permission from you to consult you 2. Covid-19 Screening - to protect our whole community in screening who is safe and not safe to attend our clinic in person 3. Edinburgh Post Natal Depression Screening form - we provide holistic care, which means we don't just focus on the baby, we focus on caring for you too!
